Mix Mag!

Mix Mag is a dance and clubbing music magazine. Therefore this is the genre of the music the magazine is based around. The type of music which you can just jump and dance around around your room too. It has a lot of beats and a lot of technical side to the music. Sometimes there isn't any lyrics mix in with the music, just the sounds of the music behind it. The type of music in which the magazine is based around would be what you would hear in a club. Something you could just rave to.

This edition of the magazine was released in the month of March 2011. It will cost their audience £4.20.

Audience
For the Mix Mag magazine I think that they magazine is for both the two genders. However, knowing about the genre of music, I think the males may possibly buy the magazine more than girls do. It just seems that men would listen to the music more. Although, at the clubs girls are always dancing. So really it is aimed at both genders.

The age group at which this magazine is aimed at would be 16/17-30 year olds. I think this because this is the age in which the people who are this age will begin to go clubbing and have first hand experience in listening to this sort of music. They will then begin to know about the genre of music and then want to know, listen and find out more about the people who perform the clubbing and dancing music.

The class for the magazine could be anything, any of the groups. Although, I think that it would be aimed more towards the people within the groups of C1, C2, D'S. I think this because these are the type of people who attend the clubs. They are always out on a Friday, Saturday night, staying up late, dancing and drinking in the clubs who play this genre of music. But that doesn't mean that people in the groups of A and B wouldn't listen to this genre of music and would like to buy the magazine.

Interests of the magazines target audience is a huge part as well. The audiences major interest has to be that sort/ genre of music. No way would someone who is interested in classical music would buy this magazine. The music magazines specializes in one certain genre of music. It isn't like a lady magazine who has articles about anything and everything. Therefore the audience needs to have a major interest in the music. Also part of their interests would be that they would like to know about the artists who perform the dance/clubbing style of music and they want to know where this artists will be appearing and when.

On the Front Cover
The background of the magazine cover is dark/navy blue. However, coming from the bottom left hand corner there are small circles. This acts like a ripple. This give the audience a hint and a feel of the genre of music the magazine is based around. The background reminds me of a stereo speaker being placed and the waves of music be pumped out of the speakers. This reflects the large speakers which are placed into clubs where the music is played at a high volume and the sounds are pumping out of the speakers in large circles.

The colours used on the front colours is a wide range of colours. The main colours used are yellow and pink. These colours are very bright ands vibrant. This sort of reflects the areas in which the genre of music is played. In the clubs they have all sorts of flashing lights shooting around everywhere. Where the two main colours have been used enforces the text and what the authors want you to mainly focus on. So then by placing these text in the colours attracts the audience to these phrase's and immediately draws and attracts the audience eyes straight towards these pieces of text.

The main story headline is in a bold and a retro font style. The yellow used to colour in the text allows the headline to stand out. This encourages the audience to be attracted and drawn into the magazine. Its as if the author is trying hard to highlight the story headline to the audience. Then by latching the colours of blue and pink as the border around the text again add to the empathises to highlight the title of the story. The way in which the main headline is presented again add to the idea/stereotype of the genre of music this magazine focuses on.

The main cover line of the magazine in in bold white. The text of the magazine cover is more bubbly. All of it is in lower cases. The have dotted their 'I' with a circle inside a circle. This could also be seen just like the ways the circles are on the background. As if they are sound waves coming from the speakers.

Other story headlines are placed down the right hand side of the front cover. The main heading which connects the others together is placed in white. This doesn't really stand out and act as and eye-catching pieces for the audience. I think that this could be because it just adds emphasis to the main story headline which has already introduced the main story. This is just there to introduce the list of all the drugs underneath.

The headlines underneath are all placed in pink and yellow text. This text is probably the worst on the front cover. It advertises nasty habits and things which are illegal. By placing it in these colours it highlights the words and encourages the audience to notice and read these pieces of information. It would then encourage the audience to continue to read and flick through the magazine.

On the top right hand corner of the front page there is a photo of a club. The border around the picture is the pink and yellow colour used around the front page. As they are florescent colours this would draw the audience towards this corner of the magazine. They are advertising one of their main stories. They want their audience to read that story.

At the top left hand side there is an advertisement which informs the audience about the free CD they are giving away with the magazine. There was a variety of colours used which helped draw the audiences eyes towards this. The free CD is stuck to the bottom left hand side of the magazine. By placing the two on the left hand side allows it to be seen when the magazine are on display in the newsagents and shops.

The language used on the front cover of the magazine matches the stereotyped view of the people who listen to this genre of music. The main title is "drugs survey". This gives the impression that the authors have gone around to all different clubs and asked people their views and opinions on the different drugs. The other writing down the right side of the cover magazine is mentioning all the different drugs with either a jokey or saying to go with it. This goes with the audience as these people go to loads of clubs and raving to the music. The type of music matches the way in which people act when they are on or taking drugs.

I think that this magazine defiantly targets their audience exactly towards their needs. The authors of the magazines know what their audience want to read and know about and they have matched this with their front over of the magazine.
