Q Magazine

Q magazine is a monthly edition which is produced in the United Kingdom. The magazine has a circulation of 130,179. The magazines selling line is "The UK'S Biggest Music Magazine" this informs the audience that the magazine is based on all the different types of music. Devoting itself to interviewing and writing about the worlds most popular musicians and bands.

Audience Profile
I feel that this magazines audience is aimed towards the two different genres, both males and females. I think this because the magazine is based on all sorts of artists and music.

The ages of the audience I think is the ages from around 19-40 years of ages. From this magazine you can see that they have articles on the newest upcoming artisit Lady Gaga and then a story on Jimi Hendrix who was a gitarist a long time ago.

Interests of the audience plays an important part of the magazine. They need to be interested in music. This magazine is good as it is based around a large area of music. They focus on the newest artistis. The audience needs to be interested in knowning about the newsest artists in which the magazine is writing about.

On The Front Cover
The first main thing you cna notice on the front cover of the magazine is the main image. The photograph is of Lady Gaga. She takes up the whole center of the page. Her hair covers part of the selling line at the top of the magazine. She is topless but is covering herself with gloves with long spikes coming out from thr ends. Her trousers are the same, just black with the spikes coming down from the sides of the trousers legs. By having Lady Gaga as a main image helps attract the audience towards the magazine. As she is a new singer. The audinece will want to know all about her.

The title of the magazine is placed on the left hand side of the magazine cover. It is placed in a large red square with the letter Q, written in white, is placed on top. This enables the name of the magazine to be bright which will help draw the audiences eyes and inform them that this is the magazine. This also acts as the magazines logo. Allows the audinece to recognise the magazine.

Colours, which have been used for the cover, is; red, white and black. They are all used on top of the background colour grey. This allows the writing to be seen and noticable for the audience. The authors have not set a colours for the headings etc. They have just used colours fo whatever.

Some of the text has been highlighted to add emphasis to what it is explaining. They want the audience to see this piece of text. It encourages them to read it and then continue to read through the rest of the magazine. The font style and sizes are all different for differetn pieces of the text on the front cover. The text which introduces Lady Gaga splits into two. The first part of "GaGa" goes behind the photo of her and the second "Ga" layers on top of her.

Language
The language used on the front covers helps attract the audinece. For the main story about Lady Gaga they have written "Move Over Madonna....Lady Gaga Has Risen". This informs the audience that this new singer is going to be biggger and better than the amazing Madonna. This would then enocurage the audience to read the article on Lady Gaga. Anyone who is going to be better than Madonna needs to be known about in the public. The use of words here when introducing the article trciks the audience into buying the magazine just to read this article.

Another trick the authors have used is the large heading written in red which introduces another story. This is "100 Most Shocking Moments in Music". By using the large number of 100 allows the audience to think 'WOW! is there really 100 shocking moments?' they will then be intreeged and would want to know what the 100 shocking moments are.

As I said from the beginning that the magazine is based on all different artists this can be proven from this cover again. On the left hand side of the page they have listed all of the other atisits which they have stories on. They have listed "Slash, Julian Casablancas, John Lindon and Jedward" This is such a variety of different musicians. Form bands to a groups which came from xfactor who only selected people seemed to enjoy.
